Firsts Girls Hockey Coach


The RolePenleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS) seeks an experienced and dedicated Firsts Girls Hockey Coach to develop players to reach their highest potential. PEGS is a member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria and the Associated Private Schools competition for girls.PEGS seeks expressions of interest from suitably experienced individuals who can set a positive agenda, motivate players and develop their fitness, skills and knowledge of the game, manage team selections, scouting and assist with team trips as needed.The coach leads training twice a week, typically Mondays and Wednesdays after school and attends Saturday and weeknight games, which may vary. There is some variation in training sessions during pre-season. Some additional hours of work are required for selections, meetings and feedback sessions, scouting, specialist coaching clinics and trips.This is a fixed term role from February to August with breaks during school holidays and estimated at approximately 140 hours of work for the season. The successful applicant will have: An extensive level of knowledge and experience in playing and coaching HockeyThe ability to motivate and develop players in a positive and supportive mannerAn interest in working with children and supporting child safety and wellbeingHigh level time management and communication skillsA commitment to child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgroundsLevel 2 First Aid, or a willingness to obtain itOwn transportA valid Working With Children Check The SchoolPenleigh and Essendon Grammar School has over 3,000 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East. The Role

  • High level time management and communication skills
  • A commitment to child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgrounds
  • Level 2 First Aid, or a willingness to obtain it
  • Own transport
  • A valid Working With Children Check
